How Do Microchips Work?

Microchips are easily inserted under the skin between your pet’s shoulder blades. They are about the size of a grain of rice and stay active for the lifetime of your pet. Generally you will not see or feel your pet’s microchip but we are happy to show you how they work with our microchip scanner. The microchip has a number attached to it that is unique for your dog or cat. The microchip number is linked to the owner’s name, phone number, address and any other contact information that has been supplied. Keeping this information up to date with the microchip company is crucial to getting your pet back home to you!

Our dog was showing signs of vestibular disease and couldn’t walk by herself. We took her in to Empire Ranch to make sure nothing serious was going on, Jess and her team were amazing! Highly recommend!

We are so grateful to have found Empire Ranch Veterinary! From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed by the kind and friendly staff. The veterinarian was incredibly knowledgeable and took such wonderful care of our pet, treating them like family. It’s clear that everyone here truly has a passion for what they do. Tuesday night, are cat had some issues. The next day, he seem fine, but we took him in "just in case." They didn't have any appointments available, but we did a walk-in appointment at 8:30am. We were taken into a room pretty quickly and a technician asked us questions. She also gave Riker a blanked with Pheromone spray on it to calm him, which it did!
Because we were walk-ins and they were busy, we were told it would be about an hour wait. We were fine with that. It was a little less than an hour when Dr. Hammerschmidt (she is a sweetheart) took Riker into an examination room while we waited. Within 10 minutes, they were back to give us their diagnosis. It was nothing serious. We also received some recommendations to think about for his diet and teeth tarter issues.
Another tech came into the room to check us out and we thought the cost was reasonable. We are new to the area and so glad we found Empire Ranch Vet.
